Black bear sightings reported in Alabama and Florida
Black bear sightings have been reported in residential areas across Alabama and Florida, raising concerns among local residents.
In central Alabama, sightings have been documented ranging from Shelby County to the vicinity of Jacksonville State University. It remains unclear if a single bear or multiple animals are moving through the region.
In Ocoee, Florida, residents of the Arden Park neighborhood have reported seeing one or possibly two bears near homes and a community park. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission stated that sightings in neighborhoods are not typically grounds for trapping and relocation. Officials advised residents to secure attractants such as garbage, pet food, and bird feeders to prevent bears from frequenting residential areas.
