Gatlinburg reports multiple black bear encounters in Tennessee

A series of recent black bear encounters in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, has highlighted the frequent interactions between wildlife and humans near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

In one incident, a bear entered The Spice & Tea Exchange, where it rummaged through merchandise and jumped onto the counter for approximately 15 minutes. Witnesses Victoria Puyol and Joshua Card observed the animal, which appeared curious rather than aggressive, before it exited the shop.

In another event, tourists were forced to smash a vehicle window with a rock to free a black bear that had become trapped inside an SUV. The animal escaped through the broken window after the group fled the scene.

Additionally, a family at a local cabin rental reported a bear attempting to enter their home by manipulating lever-style door handles on glass patio doors. The bear was ultimately prevented from entering by engaged deadbolts before wandering toward a nearby vehicle.
