Black Clover anime returns October 2026 after five-year hiatus
The anime series Black Clover is scheduled to return on October 3, 2026, after a five-year hiatus following its 170th episode in 2021. Produced by Studio Pierrot, the second season will be directed by Ayataka Tanemura and will stream internationally via Crunchyroll.
The new season is expected to adapt the final arcs of Yuki Tabata’s manga, beginning with the Spade Kingdom invasion arc. This includes the battle to rescue captains Yami Sukehiro and William Vangeance from the Dark Triad. While the production has shifted to a seasonal model to ensure technical quality, there are concerns regarding the pacing; with the manga concluded, the studio may need to adapt approximately 123 chapters into a limited number of episodes.
Musical contributions for the new season include the opening theme ‘Kienai Riyu’ by WANIMA and the ending theme ‘Yellow Brick Road’ by ONE OR EIGHT. The production staff includes scriptwriter Keiichiro Ochi and character designer Itsuko Takeda.
