Black Clover guidebook reveals Asta’s father never existed, creator offers emotional farewell

A new official Black Clover guidebook released in Japan details previously unanswered questions about the series' protagonist. It explains that Asta’s mother Licita conceived him alone, meaning he has no father; earlier fan speculation about a devil father is dismissed. The guidebook also notes that Licita’s ability to drain magic contributed to Asta’s anti‑magic powers.

Creator Yuki Tabata uses the same publication to deliver a heartfelt goodbye, thanking his family, editors, staff, fellow artists and readers for their support over the manga’s 11‑year run. He also hints at the franchise’s next phase, with the anime slated to return in the fall of 2026.
