Black Clover Season 2 Director Credits Bigger Budget and Schedule for Visual Upgrade
Director Ayataka Tanemura explained that the upcoming second season of the anime Black Clover looks markedly better because Studio Pierrot secured a solid production schedule and a larger budget. The new seasonal release model allows fewer episodes with more time dedicated to each, resulting in improved animation of magic and fight scenes.
The first season, which aired from 2017 to 2021, ran weekly for 170 episodes and was constrained by the pace of Yuki Tabata’s manga. Tanemura, who previously directed "Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King," now serves as the main director, replacing Tatsuya Yoshihara. The season is slated for a Fall 2026 debut, expected in October, and will stream on Crunchyroll. The Anime Expo interview also featured voice actor Gakuto Kajiwara, the original Japanese voice of protagonist Asta.
