Black cumin harvest begins in Ankara's Beypazarı district

The black cumin harvest has commenced in the Beypazarı district of Ankara, Turkey. Following a small-scale trial of 5 to 10 decares last year, local farmers have significantly expanded production to approximately 800 decares this season.

Farmer Erhan Kılıçarslan reported that favorable rainfall has contributed to a productive yield. Kılıçarslan expressed optimism for future growth, projecting that cultivation could expand to between 5,000 and 10,000 decares next year.

The specific variety being harvested is a bitter type used primarily for oil extraction rather than culinary use. Due to high demand, farmers intend to process the crop through sortex machines to sell it as seed rather than as a raw product.
