Black Ferns announce squad changes for second test against France

Head coach Whitney Hansen has announced 13 changes to the Black Ferns match-day 23 for the second WXV Global Series Test against France in Whangārei. This follows the team's 81-12 victory over France in their opening game in Hamilton.

The changes include Laura Bayfield joining Maama Mo'onia Vaipulu in the second row, while Layla Sae starts at seven. Ruahei Demant returns to captaincy duties at number 10, and Northland halfback Tara Turner will start in front of her home crowd. Following a four-try performance in the previous match, Shyrah Tuliau-Tua'a and Mererangi Paul move from the bench to starting wing positions.

Hansen emphasized the need for individual and collective improvement, noting that France is a quality opponent. “Our biggest pressure comes from within. It's about how we prepare, how we train and how we perform on the field, rather than chasing outcomes,” Hansen stated.
