Black Hawk helicopter deployed to search for missing sailors in Black Sea
A Black Hawk helicopter from the Ministry of Internal Affairs' General Aviation Inspectorate has been deployed from Constanța to search for three crew members missing in the Black Sea. The search operation follows a drone attack on the commercial vessel KHORYV on Friday, October 23.
The KHORYV, an ore and petroleum products carrier flying the Comoros flag, was reportedly targeted by drones approximately 24 kilometers from Constanța. Of the 13 crew members on board—comprising 10 Ukrainians and three Azerbaijanis—nine were rescued, one died, and three remain missing after falling into the water.
The vessel, which departed from the Turkish port of Ereğli on October 21, suffered major damage and capsized following the incident. The search mission was requested by the Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) to locate the missing individuals in the area where they were last reported.
