Black Market Canna Co. suspended by New York regulators

The New York State Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) has ordered the suspension of sales at Black Market Canna Co., the first licensed recreational marijuana dispensary in Dutchess County. The suspension order was issued on October 14, 2026, following an investigation into activities at the Poughkeepsie location that regulators stated created a risk to public safety.

The suspension coincides with federal legal troubles for the dispensary's owner, Ali Khan Lodhi. Lodhi faces federal charges for possessing firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon. These charges follow an FBI raid in July 2026 of his home and vehicle, during which investigators allegedly recovered two 9mm firearms and loaded magazines.

While sales are prohibited during the suspension, the state has not ordered the building to be sealed, leaving the long-term future of the business uncertain. Black Market Canna Co. originally opened in March 2024.
