Black Onions launches directory for anarchist onion websites

Black Onions has launched a new initiative to provide a stable and regularly updated directory of anarchist and anti-authoritarian onion websites. These sites are accessible via the Tor Browser and use addresses ending in “.onion”.

The project aims to address the difficulty of remembering the 56-character random addresses used by onion websites. By providing a centralized list, the initiative seeks to facilitate easier communication within anarchist movements.

Organizers stated the move is a response to increased government targeting of communication infrastructures, citing a July international conference on “far-left terror” in the United States and the placement of the Italian hosting provider Autistici/Inventati on a terrorism sanctions list in August. Onion websites are intended to mitigate censorship by avoiding traditional domain names and anonymizing server locations.
