Black Panther Sightings in South Bohemia Prompt Police Investigation

Police in South Bohemia are investigating multiple reports of a large black feline, described as a possible black panther, in the Táborsko area. A video recorded by a local resident near Dlouhá Lhota shows a sizeable black animal, and the police are reviewing the footage to determine the species.

Sightings have also been reported from Ševětín, Kvasejovice, Roudná and surrounding villages. Authorities have alerted mayors of the affected municipalities and are cooperating with the regional veterinary administration and hunting associations. Police spokesperson Lenka Krausová urged residents to exercise caution when moving in fields and forests and to report any further movement of the animal via the 158 hotline. The animal’s exact identity remains unconfirmed.
