Black receives unofficial PC port with 4K and 120 FPS support

An unofficial PC port of the 2006 first-person shooter Black, originally released for PlayStation 2 and Xbox, has been released for Windows. Developed by Spark198rus, the project is titled ‘Black PC Port’ and is based on the original Xbox version.

Unlike traditional emulation, this port utilizes the recompilation of XBE executables to adapt the original x86 code directly to Windows. This method aims to provide low command latency and more efficient use of modern hardware. The port supports resolutions ranging from 720p to 4K and frame rates of 30, 60, or up to 120 FPS.

Technical features include widescreen support, adjustable field of view (FOV), anti-aliasing filters, and configurable keyboard and mouse settings. It also offers XInput controller support, brightness and gamma adjustments, and audio improvements such as environmental reverberation.

This project is not officially affiliated with Criterion Games or Electronic Arts. To use the port, players must legally own the North American Xbox edition of the game and extract the files themselves, as the project does not provide the game files.
