Black Sabbath audiophile reel-to-reel editions released by Rhino High Fidelity

Rhino High Fidelity has released new audiophile reel-to-reel editions of Black Sabbath’s self-titled debut album and its follow-up, ‘Paranoid’.

The editions were duplicated in real time from 1:1 copies of the U.S. analog master tapes to provide a master-quality listening experience. The 15 i.p.s. half-track 1/4” tape uses premium RTM LPR90 stock and is stored on a 10.5” metal reel. Each edition is limited to 500 copies worldwide and is available exclusively through Rhino.com.

Originally released in 1970, these albums helped define the heavy metal genre. The self-titled debut featured members Tony Iommi, Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, and achieved platinum certification in the U.S. The ‘Paranoid’ album reached number one on the U.K. charts and sold over four million copies in the U.S.
