Black Sea hotel prices expected to drop as season ends

Hotel prices along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast are expected to decrease by up to 15% as the active summer season concludes. Industry representatives note that while price drops are standard for September, the extent of discounts will depend on location, demand, and the quality of the service provided.

Industry leaders are also calling for regulatory reforms to ensure fair competition. Veselin Danev, Chairman of the Union of Hoteliers, has advocated for private apartments and apartment complexes to be taxed similarly to hotels. He specifically requested that these properties pay non-residential rates for electricity and water to level the playing field.

Infrastructure remains a critical concern for the sector. Business owners have highlighted a disparity between the well-maintained grounds within hotel complexes and the deteriorating public infrastructure, such as broken streets and inadequate drainage, in the surrounding areas. While the current season has faced challenges due to inflation and a rainy start in June, officials describe the overall performance as complex rather than weak.
