Black Sea maritime risk reaches maximum level near Novorossiysk and Odessa

Risk analysis firm EOS has issued a level 5 out of 5 danger warning for commercial vessels approaching Novorossiysk and the ports in the Odessa region of the Black Sea. The firm recommends that shipping companies scheduled to approach Novorossiysk postpone their arrivals, noting that a significant recovery in Black Sea maritime traffic is unlikely within the coming week.

In Novorossiysk, the naval base conducted live-fire exercises on August 27 involving defense against unmanned surface vessels and aerial drones. Additional exercise periods were confirmed for August 28.

Regarding energy infrastructure, the CPC oil terminal remains operational despite recent volatility. EOS notes that current fluctuations in export volumes are attributed to maintenance at the Karachaganak field in Kazakhstan rather than recent attacks on the terminal. Planned exports through the CPC for September are estimated at 1.5 million barrels per day. Meanwhile, congestion remains high on the Danube, with transit limited to approximately two to three vessels per day.
