BlackBerry reports $163.3 million in Q2 revenue driven by QNX growth

BlackBerry reported $163.3 million in revenue for the second quarter of fiscal 2027, marking a 26% year-over-year increase. This growth was primarily driven by its QNX automotive software business and a rise in intellectual property licensing revenue. The company reported a GAAP net income of $33.9 million for the quarter ended August 31, 2026, up from $13.3 million in the prior-year period.

The QNX division generated $80.3 million in quarterly revenue, exceeding previous guidance of $70 million to $75 million. This segment's growth was attributed to higher royalties, development license revenue, and professional services. BlackBerry's technology is currently deployed in more than 275 million vehicles.

Following its transition from a mobile device manufacturer to a specialist software and cybersecurity provider, BlackBerry is pursuing a dual strategy of expanding its enterprise software portfolio while exploring niche markets for secure communication devices. The company's recent performance includes improved gross margins and an increased full-year revenue outlook.
