BlackBerry targets robotics growth through QNX software
BlackBerry is identifying robotics as one of the fastest-growing segments within its QNX software portfolio. CEO John Giamatteo stated that the company is positioning itself to capitalize on the expansion of “physical AI.”
QNX, BlackBerry’s largest business unit, provides safety-critical embedded software and operating systems. While currently integrated into approximately 275 million vehicles to support functions like braking and semi-autonomous driving, the company is now expanding into industrial and specialized sectors.
Rather than focusing on humanoid robots, BlackBerry is targeting industrial applications such as warehouse robots, autonomous forklifts, and medical equipment. Giamatteo noted that these areas, along with industrial automation, represent a significant growth opportunity for the QNX portfolio.
