Polish fruit markets swing as blueberry prices tumble and raspberry prices double

Polish blueberry growers report that wholesale prices have fallen sharply, from around 20 zł per kilogram to roughly 10‑11 zł, after large returns of fruit from distribution centres and a peak in seasonal supply. The low prices have not been passed on to retailers, where promotions keep consumer prices near 25‑50 zł per kilogram.

At the same time, raspberry prices have surged almost 100 % compared with the previous season, reaching up to 45 zł per kilogram for tunnel‑grown berries. The spike is driven by unusually hot weather followed by heavy rains, which reduced the quality and availability of field‑grown fruit.

Investigations of tomatoes sold in Polish supermarkets revealed that many units were empty inside. Labels showed conventional (non‑organic) cultivation codes, prompting consumer complaints about quality.

Globally, cocoa prices on commodity exchanges dropped about 30 % over recent months, but retail chocolate prices in Poland have remained stable, with promotions rather than permanent price cuts driving any consumer savings.
