Blackpink Faces Fan Discontent Over Sparse 10th‑Anniversary Plans
Fans of the K‑pop group Blackpink have expressed widespread disappointment ahead of the group’s 10th‑anniversary on 8 August 2026. Despite the milestone, YG Entertainment has offered only limited merchandise, digital badges on Weverse, and a heritage‑collection collaboration with the National Museum of Korea’s MU:DS brand. Many fans demanded a live‑stream, new music, or a group‑wide event, saying “we don’t want merch, we want Blackpink.”
Social media criticism has intensified after a recent appearance by member Rosé in Los Angeles, which some fans interpreted as a sign the group may not reconvene in Korea for the celebration. An official YG notice about a fan‑meeting allowed only 40 attendees and did not guarantee the presence of all four members, further fueling anger. Fan organisations such as the Blackpink Blink Union have called on YG to mark the decade with meaningful activities, citing the group’s status as the world’s biggest girl group.
The backlash reflects broader concerns that Blackpink’s members are prioritising solo careers over group commitments, with some fans even suggesting disbandment. As of now, no new group‑focused event or music release has been announced.
