BLACKPINK celebrates 10th anniversary amid fan backlash and apologies

BLACKPINK marked their 10th debut anniversary on August 8 with a reunion involving all four members—Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. The milestone included a Weverse livestream and a small-scale "Meet & Greet" event at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul, attended by 40 fans selected via lottery.

The celebrations were marred by controversy and fan backlash directed at YG Entertainment. Critics cited a rushed announcement—made only two days prior—as well as the extremely limited number of attendees and initial uncertainty regarding whether all members would be present.

In response to the disappointment expressed by their fanbase (BLINK), Jisoo issued public apologies on the Weverse platform and during the livestream. She stated, "This anniversary feels like a day full of regret," and attributed the friction to "problems in communication." The members used the occasion to reflect on their decade-long journey, expressing gratitude to their fans for their support since their 2016 debut.
