BlackRock Bitcoin ETF outperforms Vanguard S&P 500

BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) has demonstrated significant market presence, with its returns since its January 2024 debut reaching 71%, surpassing the 66% return of the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) over the same period.

Despite this long-term performance, recent market volatility has impacted capital flows. BlackRock recently saw outflows of $201.2 million, contributing to a total of $236.5 million in outflows across Bitcoin ETFs. This movement follows broader market trends and shifts in investor sentiment regarding interest rate expectations and geopolitical tensions.

Since the SEC's approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs in early 2024, BlackRock has established a dominant position in the sector, managing approximately $61.4 billion in assets. This significantly exceeds its closest competitor, the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund, which manages nearly $11 billion.
