BlackRock CEO Larry Fink shifts stance on Bitcoin and XRP
BlackRock CEO Larry Fink has undergone a significant shift in perspective regarding Bitcoin, moving from a critic who once linked the asset to money laundering in 2017 to a proponent who describes it as ‘digital gold.’ The asset manager now provides institutional access through its iShares Bitcoin Trust, signaling Bitcoin’s transition from the periphery to a legitimate investment asset within the traditional financial system.
While BlackRock has focused its cryptocurrency ETF offerings on Bitcoin and Ethereum, speculation remains regarding other assets. In a recent interview, Fink declined to comment when asked about the potential launch of an XRP ETF. Although BlackRock has not filed for an XRP product, other asset managers like 21Shares and Bitwise have already entered the market. Analysts suggest BlackRock may be waiting for greater liquidity and scale in the XRP ETF segment before entering.
