Ericsson reports Q3 revenue growth despite rising component costs

Ericsson reported third-quarter financial results that exceeded market expectations in several key areas, despite a decline in net profit. The company's revenue rose 6% to 59.5 billion SEK (approximately 5.33 billion EUR), driven by strong demand for mobile network equipment in core markets, including Japan and India.

Adjusted EBITDA reached 10.1 billion SEK, significantly higher than analyst estimates. However, net profit fell to 5.8 billion SEK compared to the previous year, a decline largely attributed to a high one-time gain from business divestments in the prior year's period.

New CEO Per Narvinger warned of upcoming challenges, specifically rising costs for electronic components and semiconductors, which are increasingly in demand for AI data centers. He noted that these rising costs could pressure gross margins through 2026 and 2027. Additionally, the company anticipates a stagnation in the Radio Access Network (RAN) market. To mitigate these pressures, Ericsson plans to simplify its organizational structure, including merging its Asia-Pacific operations, and focus on increasing operational efficiency and AI-driven network functionalities.
