BlackRock, SBI, and Startale sign MOU to link tokenized funds with JPYSC

BlackRock, SBI Holdings, and Startale Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to explore the integration of tokenized money market funds (MMFs) with JPYSC, a yen-denominated trust-type stablecoin. The collaboration aims to build a connected on-chain financial ecosystem by addressing technical infrastructure, business distribution, and regulatory frameworks.

Under the agreement, BlackRock Financial Management and BlackRock Japan will provide global asset management expertise, while SBI Holdings contributes its financial services network and Startale Group provides blockchain infrastructure. The initiative seeks to allow institutional investors to settle fund positions on-chain using yen-denominated stablecoins, potentially increasing the efficiency of asset management and cross-border payments.

JPYSC, issued by SBI Shinsei Trust Bank, is a trust-type stablecoin designed to operate within Japan’s regulatory framework. As of late October 2026, its circulating supply reached approximately 20.7 billion yen. While the MOU establishes a foundation for future development, the companies have not yet announced a specific commercial launch date or the specific funds to be integrated.
