Blackshirt Feeders begins new 200,000-head cattle feedlot project in Nebraska

Blackshirt Feeders, one of North America's largest feedlot operators, is constructing its first greenfield project in southwest Nebraska. The decision to build comes after the company was unable to acquire existing feedlots of a sufficient size for its expansion needs.

Co-founder Kee Jim, a Canadian veterinarian and 2024 inductee into the Alberta Agriculture Hall of Fame, stated that the company prefers feedlots with a capacity of at least 100,000 head. The new facility is expected to reach a capacity of 150,000 head by Christmas, with plans to expand to 200,000 head by the end of next year.

Blackshirt Feeders currently manages approximately 16 feed yards with a combined total capacity of about 750,000 head.
