Blackstone launches Falcata defense technology platform
Blackstone has launched Falcata, a new defense technology platform designed to expand the production of sensors, guidance, and navigation systems used in missile and drone defense. The platform was formed by combining Technology Service Corp. (TSC), a manufacturer of radar and missile seekers, with Applied Systems Engineering, Inc. (ASEI), a developer of military navigation and flight-control systems.
Falcata aims to address the increasing demand for affordable interceptors capable of countering the proliferation of inexpensive drones and missiles. The company will focus on critical components such as target-seeking sensors, guidance electronics, and GPS-independent navigation systems. CEO Brandon Wolfson and Chairman Jonathan Moneymaker will lead the new entity, which intends to invest heavily in manufacturing capacity and engineering.
While Blackstone described the move as a “significant investment” without disclosing specific financial terms, Bloomberg reported that the firm committed more than $1 billion in debt and equity to the acquisitions. Blackstone plans to use Falcata as a platform to acquire additional companies over time, further consolidating its presence in the aerospace and defense sectors.
