CoreWeave faces stock plunge and debt concerns

CoreWeave, an AI infrastructure provider, has seen its stock price drop significantly, hitting a 52-week low of $53.50 in late October. The decline is driven by investor concerns regarding the company’s ability to refinance its substantial debt, which is estimated to be between $35 billion and $51.6 billion.

Market indicators reflect growing skepticism, with bond yields for the company’s unsecured debt rising above 15% and short interest reaching approximately 23.7% of its free float. While the company reported explosive revenue growth in 2025, it also posted a net loss of $1.2 billion due to interest payments, equipment depreciation, and acquisition costs.

Despite the financial pressure, Blackstone’s Jon Gray has expressed confidence in the company, noting that the demand for computing capacity remains strong and the underlying business is solid. CoreWeave maintains a significant order backlog, reported at approximately $130 billion, as it continues to expand its data center footprint to support AI workloads for major clients like Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI.
