Bladder inflammation causes, symptoms, and treatment
Bladder inflammation, or cystitis, is primarily caused by bacterial infections, most commonly Escherichia coli. While it occurs in men and children, it is more frequent in women due to shorter urethras.
Common symptoms include a constant urge to urinate, burning sensations or pain during urination, inability to empty the bladder completely, blood in the urine, and pressure in the bladder or abdomen.
Beyond bacteria, other causes can include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, catheter use, certain body products, or underlying conditions such as diabetes, kidney stones, or an enlarged prostate. High-risk groups include pregnant women and women in menopause. If symptoms persist or worsen, medical consultation for potential antibiotic treatment is recommended.
