Blagoevgrad family seeks justice after 16-year-old girl's death

Five months after the death of a 16-year-old girl in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria, her father, Stoyne Stoynov, is demanding answers regarding the circumstances of her fall from a fifth-floor apartment in the Strumsko district.

The incident occurred on the night of May 23-24. While a teenage boy also fell from the same floor and sustained serious injuries, the girl was found lifeless at the building entrance. Although an 18-year-old student was initially charged with intentional homicide, the court released the defendant due to a lack of sufficient evidence to determine who threw the girl from the window.

Stoynov rejects the official version of events, alleging that his daughter was murdered and her body subsequently thrown from the window. He claims the girl showed multiple signs of injury and denies she was using narcotics, contradicting previous suggestions by the former Interior Minister that drugs might be involved. Witnesses at the scene claimed they did not remember the incident or were not present in the apartment at the time of the fall.
