Blagoevgrad investigation: Father disputes death of 16-year-old girl

Four months after the death of 16-year-old Ivana Stoyneva, who fell from a fifth-floor balcony in Blagoevgrad, her father is challenging the official investigation. Stoyne Stoynev claims that new forensic evidence contradicts the initial police theory that the teenager died following drug use or suicide.

According to the father, official forensic reports show negative results for narcotics in Ivana’s system. He also highlighted physical injuries found on her body, including bruises, abrasions, a cigarette burn, and bite marks, suggesting she may have been involved in a struggle before her death. He hypothesizes that she was killed between 10:00 PM and 10:30 PM and subsequently thrown from the building to stage a suicide.

The initial investigation suggested the presence of LSD at a gathering involving Ivana and several other youths. While prosecutors previously charged a 20-year-old individual with murder, the court dismissed the charge due to insufficient evidence. The father has formally requested that the case be transferred from local authorities to the National Investigative Service, citing concerns over potential influence within the local investigation due to personal connections between involved parties and the Ministry of Interior.
