Blagoevgrad Mayor Metodi Baikushev expects son with Down syndrome

Metodi Baikushev, the Mayor of Blagoevgrad, and his wife Mila have announced that they are expecting a son who has a 95% probability of being born with Down syndrome.

Baikushev shared the news on social media, stating that the couple has decided to welcome the child. He emphasized that their decision is a personal choice and noted, “We decided together to welcome him. Not as a feat and not as a victim, but because he is our child and is a gift from God.”

The Mayor also clarified that they do not judge others who might make different decisions in similar circumstances. He expressed pride in his wife's strength and honesty regarding the situation and requested prayers for their family.
