Blake Snell aims for Hall of Fame and career extension to age 45
Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Snell has expressed his ambition to pitch in Major League Baseball until the age of 45 and eventually earn induction into the Hall of Fame. The 33-year-old southpaw, a two-time Cy Young Award winner, aims to extend his career by at least 11 more seasons.
Snell’s recent seasons have been hampered by injuries, including shoulder fatigue, elbow issues, and groin discomfort. Since signing a five-year, $182 million contract in November 2024, he has managed only 20 starts across two campaigns. Snell noted that his recent availability—averaging roughly 10 starts per year—is insufficient for Hall of Fame consideration.
To reach his goals, Snell intends to use the offseason to focus on physical conditioning to ensure his body can handle a full workload, including 30 regular-season games and postseason appearances. His comments have drawn mixed reactions from fans on social media, with many citing his recent injury history as a significant obstacle to such long-term longevity.
