Blanca López resigns from Guayaquil Municipal Council
Blanca López has resigned from her position as a member of the Guayaquil Municipal Council, representing urban constituency 1 for the Revolución Ciudadana movement. The resignation was formally presented during an ordinary session of the Council, which was presided over by acting mayor Tatiana Coronel.
López stated that her decision is based exclusively on personal reasons, noting the need to care for a family member facing illness. She emphasized that her departure does not signify a withdrawal from politics or her long-standing social and political convictions.
During her tenure, López served as vice mayor at age 23, becoming the youngest person to hold the position in the city's history. Her work included initiatives focused on child nutrition, safe mobility, cultural democratization, reforestation, and the protection of the Estero Salado. The Council recognized her contributions and her role as a reference for youth and women.
