Blanca Merari denies arrest after FGR search of Cancun residence

Blanca Merari Tziu Muñoz, the municipal president of Puerto Morelos, has denied reports of her arrest following a search conducted by the Attorney General's Office (FGR) at her residence in the Lagos del Sol residential complex in Cancun.

Merari clarified that the federal operation, which involved elements of the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), was directed at the property owner rather than herself. She explained that she rents the home through a real estate agency and has no personal relationship with the owner. According to the mayor, the investigation involves approximately seven properties owned by the same individual.

The mayor stated that she and her daughters were present during the search and cooperated fully with federal agents. She noted that the residence was not seized and she is permitted to continue living there. While she acknowledged the existence of a federal investigation, she stated she is unaware of the specific crimes being investigated and is not a subject of the legal proceedings.
