Blanca Rosa Mármol de León announces Venezuelan presidential candidacy
Venezuelan jurist and former Supreme Court magistrate Blanca Rosa Mármol de León has formally announced her candidacy for the presidency. In a video released on social media, she called for a “civic struggle in the streets” to demand the release of political prisoners, free elections, and the appointment of a transitional government.
Mármol de León criticized the current political situation, citing a “power vacuum” following the expiration of Delcy Rodríguez’s interim term. She also leveled sharp criticisms against the United States administration under Donald Trump, accusing the U.S. of partnering with the “Rodríguez triumvirate” to exploit Venezuela’s natural resources rather than liberating the country.
The jurist warned international companies that the Republic will not recognize any illegal contracts or concessions signed with the current regime. She further accused the Trump administration of violating the Venezuelan Constitution by claiming ownership over the nation’s oil reserves, asserting that these resources are the inalienable public property of the Republic.
