Blanco film about Miguel Ángel Blanco to begin filming October 19

Filming for ‘Blanco’, a new fiction feature film directed by Félix Viscarret, is scheduled to begin on October 19. The film reconstructs the 48 hours following the 1997 kidnapping of PP politician Miguel Ángel Blanco, based on journalistic investigations and direct witness testimonies.

Produced by Nadie es Perfecto and Euskadi Movie, with participation from Netflix and RTVE, the film is set for a theatrical release on July 9, 2027. This date coincides with the 30th anniversary of Blanco’s murder. Universal Pictures International Spain will handle distribution in Spain.

The cast features Mikel Bustamante as Miguel Ángel Blanco, alongside Eneko Sagardoy and Jon Ander Urresti. Other cast members include Natalia Huarte, Carlos Scholz, and Lander Otaola, who will portray the journalists involved in the story. The production has received support from the Miguel Ángel Blanco Foundation and the Blanco Garrido family.
