Blanes implements DATUR platform to enhance tourism intelligence

The Blanes City Council has implemented a new tourism intelligence platform called DATUR to better understand visitor behavior and improve destination management. The tool aims to enhance tourism promotion for the Costa Brava region by providing objective, updated data for decision-making.

DATUR integrates information from various official sources, transforming it into interpretable indicators and graphics. A primary data source includes aggregated and anonymized mobile telephony data provided by the National Statistics Institute (INE), which allows for the study of visitor mobility without identifying specific individuals. This is supplemented by data from Idescat and other statistical sources related to tourism.

Through this platform, the municipality can track key metrics such as visitor origin, main emitting markets, length of stay, estimated overnight stays, mobility flows, and visit recurrence. The system also enables the comparison of different periods to detect trends and shifts in tourism demand throughout the year, allowing for more precise planning of promotional campaigns and management strategies.
