Blank Street raises $75 million to expand coffee chain to U.S. West Coast

Blank Street has secured $75 million in a Series B funding round led by General Atlantic, bringing the company’s valuation to $650 million. The investment follows a previous valuation of $500 million in 2025. Other participants in the round included Left Lane Capital, General Catalyst, and Tiger Global.

Originally starting as a cart in Brooklyn, the coffee chain has expanded to over 100 locations, primarily concentrated in London and New York. The company plans to use the new capital to expand to the U.S. West Coast, targeting high-income areas such as Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, and Malibu. This move places the brand in direct competition with established players like Starbucks and Costa Coffee.

Co-founder Issam Freihah noted a shift in consumer behavior, with significant growth occurring after 4:00 PM. To capitalize on this, the company is evolving its brand to include matcha, snacks, and ice cream, aiming to transition from a morning coffee provider to a daily luxury brand that captures afternoon sales.
