Blansko opens new 320‑million‑CZK indoor pool

Blansko, a town of about 20,000 residents in the Czech Republic, inaugurated a new indoor swimming pool on Friday. The facility, costing roughly 320 million CZK, represents the largest modern‑era investment in the town’s history and is linked to a nearby water‑park complex.

Former elite swimmer and three‑time Olympian Květoslav Svoboda attended the ceremony. He explained that he helped secure a grant from the National Sports Agency for the project and highlighted that the modern pool will serve schools, swimming courses and the general public. Svoboda recalled training in modest conditions before reaching the Olympic level and expressed satisfaction that Blansko now has a state‑of‑the‑art sports venue.

The opening marks a significant upgrade to local sports infrastructure, expected to boost community health, youth training and regional attractiveness.
