Blau-Gelbes Kreuz delivers 1,000th ambulance to Ukraine
The German‑Ukrainian aid organisation Blau‑Gelbes Kreuz e.V. has dispatched its 1,000th ambulance to Ukraine. The vehicle left the Düsseldorf Landtag as part of a humanitarian convoy bound for a hospital in the war‑torn city of Sumy, close to the Russian border, where it will treat severely burned patients.
Since the Russian invasion began in February 2022, the charity has mobilised more than €50 million in donations and, in the first half of the current year, delivered aid valued at over €10 million, including generators, emergency backpacks and fire‑and‑rescue vehicles. It sent 164 forty‑ton trucks loaded with supplies into neighboring Russia and has reached 126 Ukrainian cities. In 2025 it expects to deliver aid worth roughly €12.5 million. The organisation also runs two hospital projects, supports the Dnipropetrowsk region and operates a youth exchange programme called “Ferien ohne Krieg”. Chairwoman Linda Mai said the war has become “daily horror” for Ukrainians, underscoring the ongoing need for medical and rescue equipment.
