Blau‑Gelbes Kreuz sends 1,000 ambulances to Ukraine

The German humanitarian organization Blau‑Gelbes Kreuz e.V. dispatched its 1,000th ambulance to Ukraine as part of a convoy that left from the Düsseldorf state parliament. The vehicle is headed to a hospital in the frontline city of Sumy, where it will treat severely injured patients, including those with burns. Since the war began in February 2022, the group has delivered more than €50 million in aid, including 40‑ton trucks, generators, emergency backpacks and thousands of other supplies.

At a town‑hall meeting in Metzkausen, Mettmann, chairwoman Linda Mai urged locals not to let assistance wane. She recounted her 46 trips to Ukraine, described personal experiences of bombings and drone attacks, and highlighted that over 400 refugees have been taken in by the city. The event reflected a decline in public interest after four and a half years of conflict, but Mai emphasized the continued need for donations and equipment.
