Blaya Rodrigues marries using second-hand wedding attire
Portuguese singer Blaya Rodrigues has drawn attention for her unconventional choice of wedding attire following her marriage to João Barradas. Eschewing traditional high-cost bridal fashion, the artist utilized second-hand pieces for her celebrations.
For the civil ceremony, Rodrigues wore a dress featuring lace from the second-hand shop New Chance. For the subsequent celebration, she purchased a two-piece wedding dress on the resale platform Vinted for 100 euros. To ensure the outfit fit correctly and met her stylistic preferences, she worked with a seamstress to adjust the sizing and add specific design elements, including a slit in the skirt.
The ensemble was further personalized with a veil embroidered with the couple’s initials and wedding date, as well as the phrase ‘Meu amor’ on the dress. Rodrigues stated that her goal was to select pieces that could be reused for other occasions rather than being stored away, advising other brides to prioritize personal connection over fleeting trends.
