Blaze Entertainment delays C64 and Spectrum handhelds to 2027
Blaze Entertainment has announced a significant delay for its upcoming THEC64 and Spectrum handheld gaming devices. Originally scheduled for release on October 15, 2026, the launch has been pushed back to April 22, 2027.
The company cited quality control issues during the production phase, stating that certain areas of the product construction did not meet their high standards. While Blaze noted that some issues could have been addressed quickly to maintain the original release window, they decided to take additional development time to ensure the quality of the final devices. This delay affects both the standard models and the limited Collector’s Editions.
The THEC64 handheld features a 4.3-inch IPS display, while the Spectrum handheld is a collaborative project between Blaze and Retro Games Ltd. The Evercade Nexus remains unaffected by these production issues.
