Bleach anime introduces new forms and timeline twists
The anime adaptation of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War is introducing significant deviations and new content as it approaches its finale. Creator Tite Kubo has been working closely with the production team to expand upon the original manga storyline.
Recent developments include the introduction of a new transformation for the protagonist, Ichigo, known as Blood Chains Ichigo. This form, which does not appear in the original manga, was designed specifically for the anime to showcase Ichigo’s evolved powers following his training with the Zero Squad. Kubo has released the original sketches for this design in Weekly Shonen Jump.
The series has also utilized a major narrative twist involving Yhwach’s ability, The Almighty. While previous episodes suggested a departure from the manga's canon—including a major death and a different outcome for Orihime—the latest episodes reveal that Yhwach’s true power allows him to alter timelines. This mechanism has been used to revert the story back to the canonical timeline established in the manga, effectively undoing recent deviations.
