Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War achieves record IMDb ratings

The latest episode of the anime Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, titled “Defend You,” has achieved historic acclaim, maintaining a near-perfect rating on IMDb with over 27,000 reviews.

The episode introduces significant departures from the original manga by Tite Kubo. Most notably, it reveals a brand-new Bankai for the protagonist, Ichigo Kurosaki, known as “Blood Chains Ichigo.” This transformation, designed by Kubo specifically for the anime, features Reiatsu chains and a semi-hollow state that was not present in the original source material.

The narrative also expands the role of Orihime Inoue, who plays a decisive part in the battle against the villain Yhwach by using her powers to shield allies and protect Ichigo. These changes are part of a broader effort by Studio Pierrot and Kubo to flesh out the series' conclusion and address plot points that were rushed during the original manga's serialization.
