Blender to launch professional 3D modeling suite on Android in 2027

The professional 3D modeling suite Blender is expanding to the Android platform, with a formal release targeted for the first half of 2027. Announced at the Blender Conference 2026, the development roadmap focuses on bringing a desktop-class experience to Android tablets.

Adapting the software for mobile hardware presents significant technical challenges, particularly regarding the transition from keyboard-heavy workflows to touch and stylus-based interactions. Developers are prioritizing stylus support and virtual shortcuts to maintain productivity on tablet devices. While an APK demo is currently available for testing, official support for iPad remains on hold.

This move aligns with Google’s efforts to position Android as a more capable desktop-class platform. If successful, the port will allow creators to extend high-level modeling and rendering workflows to mobile workstations, reducing reliance on traditional desktop hardware.
