Bülent Ecevit University Hospital receives European PET/CT accreditation

Bülent Ecevit University (BEUN) Hospital in Zonguldak has become the first public hospital in Turkey to receive European accreditation for its PET/CT unit. The accreditation, granted by the European Board of Nuclear Medicine (EBNM) for the 2026-2030 period, certifies that the center’s nuclear medicine applications meet European standards.

In conjunction with this recognition, the hospital recently acquired a digital PET/CT imaging device. The facility has served the Western Black Sea region since 2012 and remains a critical hub for cancer diagnosis and treatment planning.

Additionally, efforts to expand cancer diagnostic capabilities are underway in Düzce. A new PET-CT device has been installed and is undergoing trial scans. This technology is designed to detect cancerous regions and assist in determining specific treatment processes, aiming to reduce the need for patients to travel to other provinces for specialized care.
