Bülent K. arrested after phone tracking of Russian tourists’ theft on Konyaaltı Beach

On the morning of a recent day at Konyaaltı Beach in Antalya, a Russian tourist reported that his mobile phone had been stolen while swimming. A second Russian family later reported the same fate, losing phones, cash and foreign currency. Police from the Muratpaşa District Police used the phones’ “Find My iPhone” location service to trace the devices to the Güvenlik neighbourhood, then focused their search on Derya Street. There they stopped a suspect identified as Bülent K., whose bag contained three of the tourists’ phones, about 7,000 Turkish lira in cash and personal items. The cash was later exchanged at a currency bureau.

Bülent K. was taken to the police station, underwent health checks and was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office. After a court hearing, he was sentenced to imprisonment for theft and a record of more than fifteen prior offences. The recovered phones and belongings were returned to the Russian tourists at the beach’s tourism police point.
