Bülent Karaçeper sentenced to 22 years for bank‑card fraud in Turkey
In Istanbul, 20‑year‑old motor courier Bülent Karaçeper gave his bank card and PIN to a friend, Murat G., to help with a blocked account. The card was returned but later reported lost, and fraudsters used it to withdraw money. A large‑scale investigation uncovered 55 separate fraud cases. Karaçeper was convicted in six of those cases, receiving a cumulative sentence of 22 years, 2 months and 15 days, and has been detained for about 15 months. Prosecutors traced IP addresses used in the scheme to Murat G.’s associate, Onur V., who was released without charges. The fraud operation was linked to activities in Antalya, although Karaçeper never visited the city.
