Blera: Hiker rescued by helicopter after trail accident

A 56-year-old hiker from Faenza was injured after slipping off a trail along the Cammino dei Tre Villaggi in Blera. The accident was exacerbated by heavy rainfall in recent days, which made the terrain particularly slippery.

Due to dense vegetation and forested areas that made ground access difficult, the National Alpine and Speleological Rescue Corps of Lazio utilized a helicopter for the operation. Rescue technicians were lowered via winch to reach the hiker, who had sustained multiple traumas that prevented him from moving independently.

After being stabilized and placed in a stretcher, the man was hoisted by the helicopter and transported to Santa Rosa Hospital in Viterbo for medical treatment. The rescue operation also involved park rangers, Carabinieri, and firefighters.
